Your Strutt ev¹ just got a major upgrade. Your Strutt ev¹ arrives out of the box running version 1.1.5.11. Updating to 1.1.9.11 right away will significantly enhance your driving experience. The jump in version numbers is big, but the jump in performance is even bigger.
This update focuses on making your drive smoother, your battery smarter, and your navigation more intuitive. Below is everything you need to know about what’s changing, what’s fixed, and what we’re still polishing.
1.1.9.11
Before You Upgrade:
This upgrade takes approximately 30 minutes to complete. The device will reboot automatically during the process, and the screen may freeze at times. Please do not be alarmed. If the upgrade has not completed after 1 hour, please restart the device and reattempt. The device is unable to be used during the upgrade.
New Features:
Control & Safety
  1. Pressing the power button while driving now triggers a controlled emergency stop.
  2. Optimized reverse camera experience
    1. When the reverse camera is auto-triggered, returning the joystick to the center now immediately exits the reverse view.
    2. Auto-Pilot no longer triggers the reverse camera when reversing.
  3. The joystick trigger button no longer switches to Co-Pilot+ mode. The trigger will be customizable in a future update.
State Management & Power
  1. Improved battery calibration for more accurate battery readings and better long-term battery health.
  2. Low battery alerts added at 20% and 5%. At 0%, a pop-up prompts a shutdown with a 10-second countdown instead of the sudden shutdown behavior in the earlier version.
  3. Idle timeout behavior: 10 minutes of inactivity triggers sleep; 120 minutes of sleep inactivity triggers shutdown. In future updates, these timings will be customizable.
  4. OTA upgrades now require the battery level to be at least 50% before starting.
  5. Battery firmware can now be upgraded individually while the battery is installed in the vehicle. Multiple batteries can be upgraded one at a time.
The evSense System
  1. Live View upgraded to a global top-down (bird's-eye) view, reducing blind spots and making surroundings easier to understand.
  2. Co-Pilot+ mode smoothness has significantly improved.
  3. Implemented quick relocalization: if the vehicle has not moved since it was last switched off, it will automatically relocalize itself upon startup of the evSense system, allowing Waypoints mode to be ready for use sooner.
  4. Auto-Pilot: Pathfinder and Waypoints modes now require your hand to be placed on the joystick.
  5. Waypoints mode now plans routes that follow the frequently traveled paths taken by human drivers, resulting in more intuitive and predictable navigation in large areas.
  6. Waypoints mode can now identify and avoid grassy areas during route planning. This feature is not yet available in Pathfinder, but will be added in a future version.
  7. When a map is deleted, its Waypoints are remembered. If you rebuild a map in the same area, previously saved Waypoints will be automatically restored.
  8. Transparent glass detection is now available. When the vehicle detects nearby clear glass surfaces, such as glass doors or glass walls, Live View will display a warning prompt.

        1. Default: 0 cm
      3. After tapping Apply, a confirmation pop-up will appear. Changes take about 10 minutes to take effect. During this time, the evSense system will be offline.
      4. Once the adjustment is applied, the extra buffer areas will be visible in the Live View interface as green boxes around the vehicle.
  4. Privacy permissions: camera and microphone permissions are off by default after startup. A permission prompt appears when accessing relevant features.
    1. Manage these settings at Pull-down → Vehicle → Privacy Permission.
Log & Diagnostics
  1. New issue report feature: tap the third button from the left on the pull-down page to start a 30-second voice recording for issue description.
    1. Describe the issue to the microphone and tap Confirm to upload immediately, or wait until the countdown ends for the log to upload automatically.
    2. A temporary pop-up confirms successful submission.
    3. This function requires a stable Wi-Fi connection.
Range Mode Update
  1. Activating Range Mode optimizes battery use to extend the vehicle's maximum range.
    1. Activating this mode disables the evSense system to extend the range your ev¹ can go, so stay alert and keep a close eye on your surroundings.
Bug fixes:
  1. Fixed a chassis fault false-alarm issue that caused the vehicle to stop suddenly on flat or uphill terrain.
  2. Fixed unclear reverse camera image in low-light conditions.
  3. Fixed reverse camera overexposure.
  4. Fixed an issue where an OTA upgrade caused mileage data for the current session to be lost.
Known Issues:
We are actively working on all known issues and will continue addressing them in future updates.
App & General
  1. Vehicle activation and binding may occasionally fail. If the retry option does not appear in the app, remove the device from your phone's Bluetooth settings first, then try again.
  2. OTA upgrades may occasionally fail. Please try the upgrade again if it fails.
  3. The reverse camera feed may occasionally freeze. Restarting the device and trying again may resolve this.
  4. Reverse camera guidelines are not fully accurate in all scenarios.
  5. The joystick button and Strutt button currently have no assigned function. They will be configurable in a future update.
  6. Wi-Fi networks with browser authentication are not supported.
AI Assistant
  1. The AI assistant requires the button to be held throughout your voice command. A single tap will not work. For the best results, hold the button, wait 1 second before speaking, and continue holding it for 1 second after you finish. This input experience will be optimized in a future update.
  2. The AI assistant may be unstable in certain conditions and is unavailable without a Wi-Fi connection.
evSense
For a full overview of how evSense detects and responds to obstacles, including its capabilities and current limitations, please refer to the evSense System guide.
  1. In Co-Pilot mode, the vehicle may decelerate noticeably or navigate less smoothly when passing dynamic obstacles. Oncoming or fast-moving targets may result in avoidance behavior that feels abrupt, with a minor risk of light contact. In crowded environments, frequent acceleration and deceleration may affect ride continuity. We recommend staying at speed level 3 or below in busy areas.
  2. Ghost braking may occasionally occur near the edges of steep slopes, on open-grid surfaces, in shallow puddles, at curbs, or at drop-offs.
  3. After extended outdoor use, the saved map for Waypoints may become misaligned or corrupted, which can cause navigation failures, inaccurate destination arrival, or routes planned toward obstacles. If you experience repeated Waypoints issues, reset the map via the AI assistant or the map management screen.
  4. In outdoor environments with few distinctive features or highly repetitive surroundings, such as long uniform corridors or open plazas, localization may be unreliable, and Waypoints might be inaccurate. We do not recommend using Waypoints in such environments.
  5. Quick relocalization may not work reliably when the vehicle is parked in a narrow or confined space. We recommend parking in more open areas where possible.
  6. After deleting a map and driving around for a while, previously saved Waypoints may reappear unexpectedly. A future update will add clearer interface prompts and status indicators during Waypoints recall.
  7. In outdoor environments with curbs or drop-offs, Waypoints and Pathfinder may occasionally plan routes that pass through these hazardous areas. Please use these features with extra caution in such environments.
  8. In Waypoints mode, when transitioning from open areas into narrow passages, the vehicle may occasionally plan an illogical route that runs close to the wall.
  9. In Waypoints and Pathfinder modes, the vehicle may occasionally scrape along the sides of narrow passages or get stuck, requiring the user to take over.
  10. Cliff and curb detection may be less reliable when objects, walls, or other surfaces are behind the drop, making the edge harder to identify accurately.
  11. There are areas around the vehicle with limited sensing coverage, including areas with elevated objects, objects directly above or very close to the vehicle, and irregularly shaped objects directly behind it.
  12. Smoke, dust, snow, fog, and haze can interfere with sensor data, causing the vehicle to stutter or stop unexpectedly in evSense modes. We recommend switching to Manual mode in these conditions.
These firmware updates are our way of ensuring your ev¹ evolves alongside you, getting smarter and more capable with every release. We are committed to a cycle of constant refinement, so stay tuned for more exciting features and system improvements on our roadmap.
