Strutt ev¹c 1.3.3.5 Release Notes: Smart Push Handle Integration, App AI Assistant and Waypoints Updates
The latest Strutt ev¹c software update introduces new ways to interact with and control your vehicle. This release adds support for the Smart Push Handle accessory, brings the AI Assistant directly into the Strutt App, and enables remote start of Waypoints trips through the App.
Key Updates in This Release
The main updates include:
-
Smart Push Handle support
-
A new AI Assistant tab in the Strutt App and AI Assistant integration with Waypoints Mode
-
A new Waypoints control page in the Strutt App
Smart Push Handle
The Smart Push Handle provides electric assistance while pushing the Strutt ev¹c, making the vehicle easier to move when it is not being driven.
Before You Begin
The Smart Push Handle accessory must be installed before the feature can be used. For more information on installing the Smart Push Handle, check out our Discord Channel (discord.gg/struttev1) resources in the installation guide.
After installing the handle:
-
Upgrade the vehicle to the latest software version.
-
Update the Strutt App to version 2.6.5 on iOS and Android (via the link here - https://link.strutt.inc/app/download) before opening it.
-
Scan the QR code provided with the accessory to activate the handle.
-
If the vehicle is already running the latest firmware, activating the handle may prompt you to update the handle firmware. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update. The handle may not work if this update is not completed.
Turning On the Smart Push Handle
After the handle has been activated via the Strutt App, the Push Handle button will become available.
-
When the function is turned on, the handle light will turn white.
-
When the function is turned off, the light will go out and electric assistance will be unavailable.
If you push the handle while the function is off, the orange light will flash twice, and the vehicle screen will prompt you to turn it on.
Activating Electric Assistance
When the Push Handle function is on:
-
Hold any sensor area on the handle for 2 seconds.
-
The green light will flash twice and then remain solid, indicating that electric assistance is active.
If you release the handle for 60 seconds, electric assistance will automatically exit, and the light will return to white.
Drive Mode Compatibility
The Smart Push Handle can only be used in Manual Mode. Push mode cannot be enabled in Co-Pilot or Co-Pilot+. If you switch to Co-Pilot or Co-Pilot+ while the Smart Push Handle's green light is on, electric assist will automatically exit before the vehicle enters the selected mode.
Smart Push Handle Light Guide
The Smart Push Handle status can be checked via its light color:
-
White: The Push Handle function is on. Hold the handle to activate electric assistance.
-
Green: Electric assistance is active.
-
Orange: The Smart Push Handle is awaiting enablement.
-
Red: The Smart Push Handle encountered an error.
Always remain attentive to the vehicle and its surroundings while using the Smart Push Handle.
AI Assistant in the Strutt App
The AI Assistant is now available directly from the Strutt App, giving you more ways to interact with Strutt and access frequently used commands.
New AI Assistant Tab
A new AI Assistant tab is available in the bottom navigation bar of the Strutt App. You can open and interact with the AI Assistant whether or not the App is currently connected to your ev¹c.
Multiple Ways to Interact
You can interact with the AI Assistant on the Strutt App using:
-
Customisable shortcuts
-
Text input
-
Tap-to-talk voice input
After you finish speaking, the AI Assistant’s response will appear as text and be read aloud.

Customisable Shortcuts
Create shortcuts for the requests you use most frequently. You can create, edit, delete, and reorder up to 10 quick commands for faster access.
Waypoints Integration
The AI Assistant now supports Waypoints Mode, allowing you to start a Waypoints trip with voice commands. The App must be connected to the ev¹c via Bluetooth before starting the Waypoints journey.
Improved iPad Experience
The Strutt App has been optimized for the 11-inch iPad, with improvements including:
-
A better portrait-mode layout
-
Reduced keyboard overlap
-
Optimising truncated text
-
Support for commonly used physical-keyboard shortcuts
Using Waypoints in the Strutt App
You can now select a saved map and start a Waypoints trip directly from the Strutt App. On the top-right corner, go to: Home > Remote Joystick > Waypoints

Select a map saved on your ev¹c, and click on the Match button. Next, choose a waypoint in the App to start the trip.

Map and Waypoint Synchronisation
The App can access only maps and waypoints that have already been created on the ev¹c. Any changes made to maps or waypoints on the vehicle will automatically synchronise with the App.
Note: If you are already viewing the Waypoints page on the Strutt App, pull down to refresh and retrieve the latest changes.
Important Notes for App-Based Waypoints
-
The Strutt App must be connected to the ev¹c via Bluetooth before it can send a task.
-
If the Bluetooth connection disconnects during a task, the vehicle will stop and prompt you to reconnect.
-
If Bluetooth disconnects during a Waypoints trip, the current trip will be cancelled and the vehicle will stop.
-
If the driver takes control using the onboard screen or physical joystick, the current Waypoints task will be cancelled. After the driver takes control, the next task sent through the App will require the driver's confirmation before it begins.
-
If the network is unavailable, the AI service times out, or a map or waypoint cannot be loaded, the App will display an error message with an option to retry.
Continue monitoring the ev¹c and its surroundings throughout every Waypoints trip. Be prepared to take control whenever necessary.
Improvements
Increased Auto-Pilot Speed
The maximum supported speed in Auto-Pilot has been increased to 2.8 mph (4.5 km/h). Continue monitoring the vehicle and its surroundings while using Auto-Pilot, and be prepared to take control whenever necessary.
AI Assistant on the ev¹c
Conversations with the AI Assistant on the ev¹c are now more intuitive.
-
When the AI Assistant ends its response to a question, the session will remain open so you can respond or continue the conversation.
-
If no sound is detected for five seconds, the session will end automatically.
Essential Mode
Essential Mode settings have been simplified to support safer and more consistent operation.
-
The separate “+” Speed Button and “−” Speed Button options have been combined into a single Speed Button setting.
-
Default Drive Mode and Drive Mode Switching have been removed from the Essential Mode settings.
Manual Switch Confirmation for Default Drive Mode
When the evSense System's drive mode is selected as your Default Drive Mode, you can now choose whether confirmation is required before switching to Manual Mode.
-
Confirmation On: A prompt will appear to confirm before switching to Manual Mode.
-
Confirmation Off: The vehicle will switch directly to Manual Mode.
Go to:
Settings > Advanced Settings > Default Drive Mode > Manual Switch Confirmation
Live View
Live View has been updated to provide clearer map information.
-
Live View can now display the full boundary of a created map.
-
If the vehicle travels outside the mapped boundary, map localisation will stop.
If map localisation stops, return the vehicle to the mapped area and confirm its location before continuing with map-based features.
Updated Shutdown Experience
The shutdown countdown screen has been removed. The ev¹c will now shut down directly according to your current power-off setting.
Depending on the selected setting, the vehicle will either:
-
Lock automatically when powered off, or
-
Remain unlocked when powered off
Bug Fixes
This release also includes the following fixes:
-
Fixed an issue that could cause the vehicle to suddenly lose localisation during an outdoor Waypoints trip.
-
Fixed stuttering when using Co-Pilot or Co-Pilot+ on certain ramps.
-
Fixed an issue where Auto-Pilot could fail to find a path in areas that were not too narrow for the vehicle to pass through.
-
Fixed an issue where the evSense model did not update correctly after adjusting the buffer and returning to the Home page.
-
Fixed a text display issue below the map creation screen.
-
Fixed an issue where an LTE signal could be displayed in regions without a supported eSIM carrier.
-
Improved the display logic and wording of wiring fault messages across the vehicle’s modules.
Known Issues
We are actively working on all known issues and will continue addressing them in future updates.
App & General
-
OTA upgrades may occasionally fail. Please ensure the battery level is at least 50%, that it is connected to WiFi, and that it is not charging before trying to upgrade again if it fails.
-
Wi-Fi networks with browser authentication are not supported.
Cruise Mode
-
While in Cruise Mode, the ev¹c may slightly veer to the left or right. To recalibrate the sensors, stop the vehicle and keep it stationary for 1–2 minutes before continuing. This function is only available to Open Beta users.
AI Assistant
-
The AI assistant may be unstable in certain conditions and is unavailable without a Wi-Fi connection.
-
Press and hold the Joystick Button to activate the AI assistant can only be accessed from the Home Screen and Live View Screen.
The evSense System
For a full overview of how evSense detects and responds to obstacles, including its capabilities and current limitations, please refer to the evSense System Guide.
Obstacle Avoidance (Co-Pilot Mode)
-
When passing moving obstacles, the vehicle may slow down noticeably or steer less smoothly. Oncoming or fast-moving objects can trigger abrupt avoidance maneuvers, with a small risk of light contact.
-
In crowded areas, frequent speed changes may make the ride feel less smooth.
-
For busy environments, we recommend using speed level 3 or below.
-
-
Unexpected braking may occasionally occur near the edges of steep slopes, on open-grid surfaces, in shallow puddles, and at curbs or drop-offs.
Sensing Coverage
-
Cliff and curb detection may be less reliable when walls or other objects sit behind the drop, making the edge harder to identify.
-
Some areas around the vehicle have limited sensing coverage. This includes elevated objects, objects directly above or very close to the vehicle, and irregularly shaped objects directly behind it.
