At CES 2025, we had the opportunity to share our vision with the world. Among the many conversations, our founder, Tony Hong, spoke with Mike Walter from CGTN America to discuss the driving forces behind our mission, and the specialness of the Strutt ev¹.

%%Mike Walter:%% Give us a little bit of a background on Tony Hong himself.
%%Tony:%% I grew up in a family with my father being an engineer and my mother being a nurse. So my upbringing was sort of a mixture of engineering stuff like fixing things and taking care of people. I realized I really wanted to do something that could help people, that could combine technology with humanity. This is how we started. Strutt is a company that makes personal mobility products that we want to embed all these advanced technologies to help people.
%%Mike Walter:%% What makes Strutt ev¹ so special?
%%Tony:%% What's behind this is actually a set of technologies that was developed for autonomous driving in the automotive industry. But then we realized maybe this is something that could be useful for mobility products, so we created Strutt ev1. As you can see from the front of this vehicle, we have two LiDARs that sense the environment in a 360-degree field of view. It creates a map of the surrounding environment as well as obstacles and cliffs, so it would be able to detect these and try to avoid them or navigate around them.
It's really exciting for us to be here. We really wanted to put technology and humanity together, and we really honor a user-centered approach to designing things. We interviewed many people, and then it turns out that for most people they probably do not want autonomous drive mode at all because they want full control; they do not want to lose control. Instead, we embedded all this technology to develop this Co-Pilot mode, which helps them to have full control while they could still move with safe and ease.
We really wanted to create the smartest, safest, and easiest-to-use personal mobility device for them.
%%Mike Walter:%% The other thing that I found interesting in reading about this is the battery life is longer, too. Talk to us about that and why that was so important.
%%Tony:%% The battery is actually one of the most important parts of daily user experiences. Typically, people would just be worrying about having only 50% of the battery and still being out there; you might worry, "I'm not able to get home." So this is why we tried to double the capacity.
%%Mike Walter:%% So in 2026, you're driving down the street and you see somebody wheeling around in this. Talk to me about the gratifying feeling you're going to have.
%%Tony:%% That would be really exciting! This is like the culmination of my dream to help people with the experience I have.
